Note: This is a full-time & on-call position directly reporting to the Director of Facilities; pay rate as agreed, based on experience, expertise, and applicable education.
POSITION SUMMARY
Facilities Maintenance
The primary responsibility of the Facilities Maintenance & Work Therapy Coordinator is to perform general building and property maintenance, and to coordinate and communicate with outside contractors when required. The incumbent is responsible for completion of facilities work and oversee work therapy performed by clients. Duties will include tending to the utility systems, performing routine maintenance activities, notifying management of a need for repairs. Additionally, they shall ensure that the grounds are maintained appropriately and must be knowledgeable about Occupational Health and Safety Regulations, the proper use and administration of PPE, and WHMIS.
Work Therapy Coordinator
The primary responsibility of the Work Therapy Coordinator is to implement, evaluate, and promote the Work Therapy component of Teen Challenge Canada’s residential alcohol and drug addiction faith-based program. The incumbent is responsible for the Work Therapy supervision of all clients enrolled in Teen Challenge’s program. Responsibilities include: ensuring clients are assigned and scheduled to appropriate Work Therapy tasks, promoting and ensuring the health and safety of clients, training and orientating new and/or reinstated clients on proper work procedures, cultivating a respectful atmosphere and work ethic with Biblically-based expectations, while mentoring and guiding clients on a daily basis. A working knowledge of the Bible is essential to effectively mentor and guide clients within this faith-based context.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Facilities Maintenance
- Perform repairs on windows, doors, desks, tables, equipment, appliances, sinks, toilets, blinds, walls, and other items as needed.
- Oversee daily facility operations, including: Snow removal, Monitoring drinking water and waste systems, Managing heating and cooling systems, Conducting back-up generator testing.
- Request quotes, supervise contractor work, and ensure invoices are directed to the appropriate departments.
- Coordinate with contractors for major repairs, inspections, and tests, maintaining up-to-date insurance clearance certificates.
- Provide emergency maintenance services, remaining on-call 24/7.
- Oversee mechanical maintenance of onsite fleet vehicles.
- Manage the recycling and garbage disposal program.
- Read equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service tasks.
Health and Safety
- Provide clients with adequate training on Work Therapy procedures.
- Equip clients with appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and instructions for completing tasks safely.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable Health and Safety legislation.
- Regularly exercise the Internal Responsibility System (IRS) by identifying and reporting risks and hazards.
- Ensure all building entrances and exits are clear of debris and tripping hazards.
- Collaborate with government agencies on an as-needed basis for inspections or compliance.
- Conduct monthly fire drills and maintain required records in compliance with the Fire Safety Plan and Fire Code.
- Oversee monthly first aid kit inspections, replenishing supplies as necessary.
- Ensure compliance with WHMIS requirements and current Health and Safety regulations.
Security
- Coordinate distribution of keys and access codes for security purposes.
- Monitor security systems to prevent breaches and ensure safety.
Work Therapy Coordinator
- Assign daily work tasks to clients, ensuring all necessary roles are filled.
- Responsible for completion of facilities work and oversee work therapy performed by clients.
- Communicate with relevant staff regarding client absences or schedule changes.
- Resolve conflicts respectfully and with integrity.
- Mentor and guide clients using Biblical scriptures and principles.
- Provide feedback to Addiction Counsellors regarding client behavior and progress.
- Train clients in the use of small tools, lawn mowers, snow plows, yard vehicles, and other equipment.
- Oversee lawn and property maintenance tasks, including grass cutting, weeding, pruning, salting pathways, snow removal, and other assigned duties.
Administrative
- Ensure inventory supplies and tools are restocked and stored appropriately.
- Review equipment manuals to ensure proper maintenance and operation.
- Maintain accurate records of client absences and other relevant information.
